About The Event

Singing music from Byrd to Birdland, Granta Chorale celebrates the music of William Byrd in the 400th anniversary year of his death alongside music written about our feathered friends.

Join us on Thursday evening in the stunning setting of Corpus Christi Chapel for a chorus of birdsong, from Alan Bullard’s energetic Choristers of Flight to Caroline Shaw’s evocative and the swallow to Paul Hindemith’s serene Un Cygne. Granta explore the breadth of Byrd’s music from the madrigalian Sing Joyfully, Laudibus in Sanctis and Though Amaryllis Dance in Green to the contemplative Ave Verum and little-performed Lullaby, my sweet little baby.

With an immersive dawn chorus of bird calls opening our programme, this weeknight concert is the perfect opportunity to experience exquisite choral music in tranquil twilight as you wind-down ahead of the weekend.
