About The Event
Granta Chorale performs a concert of sumptuous double choir music in the lovely resonant acoustic of All Saints' Church Hockerill.
This is a rare opportunity to hear the wonderful Mass for Double Choir by Swiss composer Frank Martin. Written in the 1920s in a highly melodic and original style, but not performed until 1963, this was quickly acknowledged as one of the greatest choral masterpieces of all time.
Also on the programme are classics such as the Allegri Miserere, and Harris’s Faire is the Heaven - which gives the concert its title - and well-loved music by Holst and Lotti as well as pieces by no fewer than three members of the choir - Andrew Bruce, Sarah Cattley and MD Janet Wheeler.
Come and hear glorious music sung by this highly acclaimed chamber choir as they exploit the resonance and spatial possibilities of All Saints’ in an imaginative way.
