New and familiar music celebrating the best of love and life

The Granta Chorale

Saturday 21 October 2017 at 7.30pm
at St. Mary's Church, Linton

Granta Chorale (musical director: Janet Wheeler) is one of the foremost mixed voice choral groups in the Cambridge area. Recently, they celebrated their 10th anniversary of music making. They will be presenting a selection from their delightfully varied repertoire in their first visit to St Mary's Church. Along with music by Henry VIII, Henry Purcell, Bob Chilcott and the American composer Lauridsen, the choir sings Over the Rainbow, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square and Moon River. Music by Janet Wheeler includes pieces commissioned by the family of Barbara Tealby in her memory. Instrumental solos from talented local performers will add further variety.

Fresh from performing Bach's B Minor Mass with English Touring Opera at Saffron Hall on Sunday 8 October, Granta Chorale embraces the lighter side of the choral repertoire, and invites you to join them for an evening of tuneful music.

Proceeds from the sale of tickets (£10 adults, £4 under 19s) go to the Friends of St Mary's (supporting the upkeep of their medieval parish church building) and the work of the chorale itself. A retiring collection will support Alzheimer's Research UK, funding research into dementia.
